Sunday, 11.6.2006 :: Chuck Black goes to Ironman GNCC
Raced the Ironman GNCC in Indiana last weekend. There were 400 riders on the line in my race, the largest ever in my class of 52. We started two thirds of the way back on the lines. i got like 12th on the holeshot and made it to 8th place on the 5th and final lap and guess what? Front flat tire at the mile 5 marker. Had to race of the front flat for 5 more miles to the checker. got passed by at least 20 riders, 3 of which was in my class that I had already passed a ways back. Finished 11th but what I am most proud of was i got 55th out of 400. Would have finished cose to 30th overall. i figured that i passed close to 200 racers and raced 2hours and 35 minutes. Yep, I was tired. If I hadn't got the flat tire, I would have lapped John, my racing partner that I travel with in my class. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am in one piece and finished 23rd in the country for the year. Not where I wanted to be, but not bad I guess.
